Short project presentation
Stolarija Bedenic (Bedenic Carpentry), under the leadership of owner Valent Bedenic, stands as one of the leading carpentry workshops in the region. Their expertise lies in providing innovative solutions and crafting high-quality carpentry products, as evidenced in our recent collaboration on a project at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes in Zagreb.
The project began with a detailed measurement of positions on the stairs for the fabrication of a curved handrail, and this task required special precision due to uneven, irregular, and curved walls within the church. To obtain the most accurate result, we applied advanced Flexijet technology, which enabled digital mapping of the walls – crucial for the further development of the project.

Development of a 3D model and production of a handrail
FLEXIJET IN ACTION
After a successful digitization, the team proceeded to create a detailed 3D model of the space and handrail. This step was crucial for understanding the complexity of the space and for production planning. CNC files were generated from the 3D model of the handrail, serving as guides for the production of individual segments of the handrail.
FLEXICAD MEASUREMENT
The handrail was crafted using the method of laminating solid lamellas, simultaneously bent in a mold. This process required a high level of skill and precision, as each segment of the handrail was unique and tailored to specific measurements and curvatures of the wall.
TECHNICAL PREPARATION
The MegaCAD software was used for developing curved surfaces, enabling the creation of precise appearances for each lamella.
FINAL RESULT
The final result was impressive. The handrail, seamlessly integrated into the architecture of the church, represented a blend of traditional carpentry craftsmanship and modern technological solutions. The quality of execution and the aesthetic contribution of this handrail reflect the dedication and expertise of the two professional teams – our company, Studio Element d.o.o., and the team from Bedenic Carpentry.
The project of crafting a curved handrail for the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes is yet another in a series of successful projects that attests to the uniqueness of Flexijet. In this project as well, it provided the opportunity to combine traditional techniques with advanced technology, reaffirming once again the uncompromising leadership position of our client Bedenic Carpentry in the carpentry industry.
