Project Background

At multi-level steam showers, it is crucial to precisely measure all components — from floors, walls, and ceilings to every notch and protrusion (commonly referred to as “notches and rises”). In the event of inaccurate measuring, the glass would not be able to fit perfectly to the existing structure, resulting in more repairs, higher costs, and wasted time.

This was exactly the challenge faced by our colleagues at Jeske Glass when producing glass elements for a multi-level steam shower enclosure.

Challenge Before Flexijet

Before implementing the Flexijet 3D system, the measurement process typically involved:

• Manually measuring with a tape measure or laser distance meters,
• Using a plumb-bob to check vertical alignment,
• Additional checks with line lasers and recording any discrepancies.

Such an approach often leads to a high probability of errors when transferring measurements into drawings. On projects with multiple levels and numerous notches, this could mean multiple site visits, repeated measurements, and unwanted mistakes during the process.

Uneven surfaces, grooves, bulges, and angles are no longer a problem. Every surface that needs precise measurement can be captured effortlessly with Flexijet, and all deviations will be taken into account during the design process—immediately reflected in the CAD program.

This approach helped our colleagues at Jeske Glass to:

• Quickly and accurately measure the shower enclosure’s walls, floors, ceilings, and other details,
• Automatically transfer the measured points to FlexiCAD software, where drawings are available in 2D and 3D formats,
• Minimize errors and the need for additional manual measurements,
• Save time when creating drawings and cutting the glass.

Results and benefits

• Reduced the number of corrections and adjustments needed for the glass,
• Saved labor hours and decreased the number of site visits,
• Improved collaboration with contractors, thanks to precise drawings,
• Eliminated team frustrations that often arise due to dimension mismatches.
