Short presentation of the project
The reconstruction of historic buildings is always a challenging process that requires a high level of precision, especially when dealing with protected cultural heritage sites. The restoration project of the Nebojan Tower, located within the Zagreb Archdiocese on Kaptol, where the Archbishop’s Palace and the Blessed Alojzije Stepinac Museum are situated, is a great example of how modern technology can play a key role in preserving historical heritage.
The Importance of Kaptol

Kaptol, as the historical and spiritual center of Zagreb, holds a special significance for Croatia’s cultural and architectural history. Its buildings and sacred sites bear witness to centuries of history and architectural evolution, while certain elements, such as the Nebojan Tower, are an essential part of conservation efforts to preserve this heritage. This tower not only represents an example of medieval defensive architecture but also symbolizes the historical connection between spiritual and secular authority.
The conservation of historical structures in Kaptol is of utmost importance as it ensures the continuity of cultural heritage for future generations. Every restoration effort on these buildings must be carried out with the highest level of precision to preserve their authenticity and aesthetic harmony.
The challenge of reconstructing windows and doors
One of the main challenges in this project was the measurement and production of new fixed glazed wooden walls, windows, and doors for the building. The windows, nearly 3.5 meters high and 2.8 meters wide with arched tops, posed a particular challenge due to their complex geometry and historical significance. To achieve an appearance identical to the original, it was crucial to ensure a detailed and precise measurement of all elements.
The Flexijet 3D measurement system proved to be the ideal solution for these complex requirements. This advanced technology enabled:
- Detailed measurements: Every dimension, angle, and curve of the windows and doors was precisely recorded, ensuring complete accuracy without the need for additional adjustments.
- Technical preparation: The obtained data was used to create technical drawings necessary for the production of elements.
- CNC manufacturing: All components were produced using CNC technology based on precise measurements, eliminating the possibility of errors.
- Time efficiency: Trial measurements and template creation were avoided, speeding up the process and reducing costs.
By integrating modern technology with traditional craftsmanship, the reconstruction ensured that the new windows and doors seamlessly matched the historical integrity of the building while meeting contemporary technical standards.

Results and conclusion
The application of Flexijet 3D technology ensured:
- Authenticity: The appearance of the new windows and doors fully matched historical patterns, which was crucial for meeting conservation standards.
- Precision: All elements fit perfectly into the existing structure without the need for additional adjustments.
- Efficiency: The project was completed within the planned timeframe thanks to the speed and accuracy of the technology.
The reconstruction of historical buildings, such as the one on Kaptol, requires a combination of conservation sensitivity and modern technology. The Flexijet 3D system has proven to be an indispensable tool in projects that demand exceptional precision and authenticity.
This project not only contributed to the preservation of cultural heritage but also demonstrated how technological innovations can support and enhance historical restoration efforts, ensuring that the past is preserved with the utmost accuracy for future generations.
